Hit America Where It Hurts

I think God is reviving America. I know he is reviving our family. He is allowing us to be hit in our pocketbooks. Nearly every American puts great security in their money, many put their whole security in it. Oh, to have that shaken, or even taken away! See my you tube at the end of the page. If you did not get to see it yet, it's excellent.
We are being challenged as a family to be resourceful, use what we have, and depend on God. Praise Him for that! It's a blessing to be drawn closer. It's a blessing to realized how truly blessed you are! It's a blessing to start to clear out the unneeded and focus on what's important. It's a blessing to remind the kids to be thankful for what is put before them, for what they all ready have.
God is disciplining America, and I think she will be better for it.
Our pastor has been on a month of financial sermons you can find at http://www.cornerstoneca.org/. The one from yesterday was the best, the hardest and the most convicting. It was on debt. I will come back here and link it directly once it's up. Usually it is at the end of the day but today is a holiday..so I'll check back here soon.

We are heading out to the pumpkin farm with Christina and her family today. I'm so excited, I love this day of the year. We gathered all our coins to buy some apples. We had not budgeted for this outing so we had to get creative. Thankfully, we had a lot of change laying around. :) I hope to have fun pics later this week.

Since we are trying to be diligent with money, I'm announcing here that we are looking for a hand-me-down day bed and trundle for our girls. If anyone has one they don't need, or knows someone that has one and you know you are local to me, we would be very grateful. My email is happyhomebody@gmail.com or you can post comment. Thanks! We will be watching Craig's list too but we know sometimes people really need to get rid of things.

I want to come back here tomorrow and post links to the great posts I read on public school that inspired me to link some of the blogs on the right side bar. I was very encouraged and challenged by them. Look for that tomorrow.

I did not get to hear the sermon yesterday, but I did get to go to our community group last night. I kept thinking about the verse from the you tube you had posted. Proverbs 30:7-9

7"Two things I ask of you, O LORD;
do not refuse me before I die:

8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches,but give me only my daily bread.

9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, 'Who is the LORD ?' Or I may become poor and steal,and so dishonor the name of my God.

I think being in debt is dishonoring God. It is saying to Him: What you want me to have is not good enough I want more. I can not wait for You to provided it for me, I will do it myself.

This verse and what I have heard from the community group as convicted me and has changed how I look at what I have.

As for the daybed and trundle, I would be willling to swap for bunkbeds. Let me know, if that works for you.

Funny thing about a day bed. We had our heart set on building triple bunkbeds for the girls room, since 4 will be sharing a small room now.

But one of the young moms at church told us that she had a day bed, trundle, sheets, mattresses, etc. and she wondered if we wanted them. Of course I said NO we are building bunk beds. But later I thought that God might be providing for us and I was closing the door on that. So I called her back and asked if it was still available. She said sure. We get to pick it up right after her thanksgiving company leaves.

I will pray that something like that will drop into your lap.
